Job Summary

EnCon is seeking a Director of Sales & Preconstruction to lead business development, market strategy, and preconstruction efforts throughout the Phoenix market. This highly visible leadership role serves as both a strategic sales leader and a technical preconstruction resource, responsible for driving market growth, developing key industry relationships, and supporting project pursuit efforts.

The Director of Sales & Preconstruction will play a critical role in expanding EnCon’s market presence, strengthening customer relationships, and supporting backlog growth while providing leadership to both business development and estimating functions. The ideal candidate is a relationship-driven construction professional with strong market knowledge, sales leadership experience, and a deep understanding of the project pursuit process.

  • Estimating Team (2 Team Members)
  • Business Development Associate

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Market Growth

  • Lead outside sales and business development initiatives throughout the Phoenix market.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with developers, owners, architects, engineers, general contractors, and key industry stakeholders.
  • Identify and pursue new project opportunities to support long-term growth objectives.
  • Maintain a strong presence within the local construction community through networking, industry events, and customer meetings.
  • Develop and execute strategic market plans to increase visibility and market share.

Preconstruction & Project Pursuit Support

  • Vet and support project opportunities throughout the preconstruction process.
  • Collaborate with estimating teams to provide market intelligence and project insight.
  • Support bid strategy development and project positioning efforts.
  • Assist in identifying project risks, opportunities, and competitive advantages.
  • Serve as a trusted resource during project pursuit and preconstruction activities.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Provide leadership, guidance, and mentorship to estimating and business development personnel.
  • Foster collaboration between sales, estimating, operations, and executive leadership.
  • Support team development and create alignment around growth objectives.
  • Contribute to strategic planning initiatives and company-wide growth efforts.

Qualifications

Industry Experience

  • Construction industry experience required.
  • Business development and outside sales experience required.
  • Preconstruction and estimating knowledge strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with developers, owners, architects, engineers, and general contractors.
  • Strong understanding of construction project pursuit and estimating processes.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred (construction-related degree not required).
  • 7–8+ years of sales experience.
  • Construction sales experience preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated success in relationship-based sales environments.

Market Knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of the Arizona construction market.
  • Established relationships within the Phoenix construction community preferred.
  • Understanding of commercial, structural, precast, or construction materials markets highly desirable.

  • Additional opportunities in Las Vegas, Northern New Mexico, Southwest Texas, and Southern California

  • Must be based in the Phoenix market

Compensation & Benefits

  • Semi-Annual Bonus Program
